Kenny Loggins at the Sun Valley Pavilion

Sun Valley Resort Presents – Kenny Loggins Live, May 30, 2009 at 8:00 PM

kenylogginspub081There are certain welcoming voices in popular music that can be identified as soon as a song starts – they’re immediately familiar musical touchstones, inextricably part of our collective pop culture soundtrack. Singer-songwriter Kenny Loggins possesses such a voice, and for over three decades it’s been inviting listeners in to experience music that reaches the heart and the senses with disarming candor, authentic emotion and rich lyrical and melodic resonance. From Loggins & Messina classics like "Danny’s Song" to signature solo tracks including "Celebrate Me Home" and the GRAMMY-winning "This Is It," Kenny Loggins’ expansive body of work speaks volumes with its warmth and directness.
On his latest album, 2007′s How About Now, the 2X GRAMMY-winning superstar whose long career has traversed diverse styles on record and in film music – comes home to the soulful, roots-centric singer-songwriter tradition that first made him a household name. In speaking about his 2005 tour with Jim Messina, beautifully captured on the concert album Live: Sittin’ in Again at Santa Barbara Bowl, Loggins commented, "I went on the road with Jimmy, we finally did a reunion tour, about 40 shows. During that time I rediscovered a kind of music I was making as a kid that had acoustic guitar at the center. There was a certain level of joy and simplicity to my writing. Working with Jimmy reminded me of that, and I got to thinking, if I was making my half of a Loggins & Messina record today, what would it sound like? That’s what I aimed for."

Sun Valley Company announces the appointment of Wallace Huffman to the position of Director of Resorts and Resort Development.  Mr. Huffman has been the General Manager of Sun Valley Resort since 1977 and has had management responsibility for Snowbasin Resort in Utah for most of the ownership of Mr. Holding, which began in 1984.

Mr. Huffman will have overall responsibility for both operations but will step away from the daily operations to concentrate on planning and development for Sun Valley Resort, Snowbasin (a Sun Valley Resort) and Flagstaff Little America.  The Sun Valley Resort completed a vision plan in 2004 and Mr. Huffman has worked since that time with the City of Sun Valley to implement the plan.  Last year witnessed the completion and opening of the White Clouds Golf Course, the Sun Valley Club and the Sun Valley Pavilion, all integral components of the Holding family vision.  Also Mr. Huffman has been shepherding the master planning of the Snowbasin base area properties for the last two years.  He will now be responsible to the Holdings to implement that plan in the two counties in which Snowbasin is located.  Mr. Huffman’s office will be located at the Sun Valley Resort.

Sun Valley further announces that Mr. Tim Silva, currently the General Manager of Northstar at Tahoe, has been tapped to become the new General Manager at Sun Valley.  He has extensive experience at Northstar, having been the General Manager there for the past 17 years.  Prior to that time he was lift operations manager at Sun Valley and has never lost his affinity for the Holdings and the Sun Valley area.  Mr. Silva will assume his new duties early in May.  We wish him all the best.
