Week Three of Sun Valley’s Alpine Town Series took place yesterday on a sunny course on Lower Cozy. The course was fast and turny, shaking up the team standings. Last week’s first place six-way tie was broken as Team Ski Tek Trainwrecks took the lead while favorite, Team SVSEF fell to 24th place and last year’s winners, Tekasoreass’s dropped to eighth.
There was also a new first place skier in the individual standings. Tekasoreass’s Carlo Rixon took the top spot, beating second place Nate Schwing by six tenths of a second and last week’s winner, Robin Sarchett by the same. Powerhouse and last week’s top female, Erika Hogan, had the undisputed best crash of the day, luckily walking away unscathed from a yard sale on her first run. This week’s fastest female was Sarah Mazzola with Tine Cordeau finishing just behind her.
The fifth place male and female were Matt Murphy and Kirsten Hagfors, sharing the honorary fifth of tequila. The rabbits (halfway finishers) were local celebrity Lenny Joseph and Mitra Marie. The Cellar Pub hosted a great after-party that included build-your-own pulled pork sliders and instant replays of Erika’s crash. There are no races next week but check back in two weeks for more results of World Cup Wednesday.
