Wednesday, Feb. 3, will be an exciting day at the Sun Valley Nordic Center. On top of the Norwegian National Team training here, we will be hosting the Sun Valley Sprint Races from 1p-3p. Sprint races are the Nordic equivalent to SkierCross, and offer great racing and spectating. The course will utilize the White Clouds trail system across from the Nordic Center, and is approximately 1.65KM in length. Waves of 4-6 skiers compete for a place in Semi-final and Final heats. If you have never skied in a Sprint race, it is a blast. And sprint races are just as much fun to watch. The price for the race has been reduced to $10 per entry, with the money going into the “pot” for the top female and male winners.

Because of the variety of terrain at the Nordic Center and the accessibility to Ketchum and Hailey, there is no better place to prepare for the Boulder Mountain Tour. Throw in a Boulder Prep Clinic featuring an Olympian (Tessa Westbrook) and a BMT Champion (Brooke Hovey), and you’ve got a match made in heaven. Get faster, ski better and have fun this week and next at Sun Valley Nordic. Call to reserve your spot in the Boulder Prep Clinic. Clinics meet at 4pm, and last about an hour and a half. Historic Galena Lodge and the entire Nordic Trail system is one of our area’s unique features. Cherished by many, Galena Lodge was saved from possible destruction by a community effort in 1994. The BCRD and the Galena & the Trails Advisory Council hold the annual Galena Winter Benefit to raise critical funds to support the ongoing maintenance and care of the Lodge and Trails.
No tax dollars are used for Galena, making the funds raised at the benefit crucial to keeping Galena and the Trails open. Individual tickets are $85. Includes dinner and wine.
