Drawing heavily from the sunny So-Cal sound of acts like Jack Johnson and G-Love, and the roots, rock sound of Tom Petty, Ben Harper and others, the Matt Lewis Band has a full, relaxed sound. Their self-titled 2004 debut is marked by the easy grooves and rhymes of tracks like “Killing Time” and “Gravity,” the punk-pop crossover of “Away From Myself,” and the dorm room sound of “In For a Ride” and “River.”

The Matt Lewis Band will play apres ski from 2-5pm at Warm Springs March 14-18 and apres ski at River Run March 19 & 20. You can also see them live in the Boiler Room on Friday & Saturday night, March 19 & 20. Doors open at 9pm after the comedy series. First 10 people at the door get in free. Lip Service Band is performing apres ski from 2-5pm at Warm Springs Feb 27 – March 11. They will perform apres ski at River Run Lodge on Friday & Saturday, March 12 & 13. On Saturday, March 13, special local guests, The Disciples of Rock will perform with Lip Service.

There’s nothing like 22″ of fresh powder before Thursday and another 5″ last night to bring a community together. Fat skis and boards were out in hoards Tuesday and  Thursday, then again Friday, as skiers and boarders hooted, hollered, and smiled through face shots following some of our biggest dumps all season. We say, we’ll take lift lines, Tuesday’s delayed openings (for safety precautions), and digging our cars out any day if we can get more powder like this. So give yourself a powder day or hang on until Saturday because they say there is even more coming tonight! Grab your girlfriends or your ski buddies, share a chair with a stranger, and go shred. Have fun out there and be safe!

The Sun Valley Ski Patrol has now opened Seattle Ridge and the Bowls as well as more terrain on the front side.  Conditions are excellent with 10″ of new snow in the past 24 hours!!

The front side of Bald Mountain is now open.  Seattle Ridge and the Bowls will open as soon as avalanche control work is concluded in these areas.  Dollar Mountain is open as well.  Don’t forget to be safe, ride with a buddy and HAVE  FUN!!!

Construction on Sun Valley’s new Doppelmayr gondola from the base of River Run to Roundhouse is progressing. The new gondola cars have just arrived and preparation is underway for flying tower forms and concrete pours early next week!

UPDATED: The helicopter is finished for this phase. The top terminal photo was poured via truck and pumper, 15 towers were poured with the helicopter There are now 21 tower footings  in place.
